A possible hardware mod: AES/EBU on X32 Rack / Core / Producer

Objective: Only X32 Full and X32 Compact have an AES/EBU output on it’s rear. The X32 Rack / Core / Producer are lacking this interface output.

I recently bought o second-hand X32 Rack and I had the courage to open it

From the comparission of images of the mainboard between X32 Full and X32 Rack (on the e-shops providing spare parts) it seems very likely that on BOTH mainboards the AES/EBU signal is route to a 74LVC245 buffer (whose main purpose is to be buffer for the Ultranet connection between the FPGA and the output ciruitry.) I tested this hypothesis an found it correct.

I could have successfully get an audio signal from a Behringer DEQ1024 over the AES/EBU interface using a very simple pair of wires directly into the XLR input of that device.

This would open up a possibility to make a small board with an XLR AES/EBU output (possibly where the Behringer logo is - sorry Behringer, I hear you) and maybe even a SPDIF output nearby in parallel.

See this video where the pins are documented as well: https://youtu.be/iEjcAeahpxs

Oh, why not attach the picture by itself?
